How to use a patch with your dream
1. Create a new folder, and give it a name that's
easy to associate with the dream patch you're going to be using so you can remember
what it's for.
2. Put your chosen patch file into the folder you just created. If
you want to use wave files or an entry midi with the same dream put those files
in here too. DON'T put any other files in here at all because ALL the contents
of this folder will be uploaded onto furc with your dream, and they will ALL be
downloaded when anyone enters your dream.
3. Open up your dream editor, and open the dream you want to use
the patch with.
4. In the editor, choose the PATCHES tab (this is the the tab to
the left of Help), click on Dream settings, and check the option which reads:- I
want to use files from this directory with my dream. Using the Browse button,
locate the new directory you just created and select it. The name should appear
in the appropriate space. Click on OK.
5. For the patch to work, you now need to SAVE the dream. Having
done this, close this particular dream and re-open it. You can now see items
from your chosen patch in your editor.
NOTE: If you want to run Walkthrough, you also need to put
the patch in your main Furcadia folder.
To do this, rename the original file so it won't be overwritten, and copy
and paste your patch file into the main Furc folder. Remember your patch needs
to have the appropriate name (item.fsh, floor.fsh. or whatever your patch is
for.)
MIDI'S
In your Furcadia, make a new folder and name it Something you will remember or want to name your dream. Add the map, ds, and midi, patches if you want in it. Then rename midi to M1. Then save. Go to DreamEd.exe and find the folder you just made click on map and open. Move over to Patches,
Dream settings, click. A box will open and you go down to I want to use files from this
directory with my dream.
Click that and then Choose it will open and find the folder you name just named. Click that folder twice and then you want to click on [..] Click the OK on the top only then, Go back to choose find your folder again, and double click. you will open it and see [.] click that once or twice and the OK at the top, If you want your Patch, dream, and ds not copied from others put a Check mark in the box above called SAFETY and OK on the bottom again. Then the box closes, and you go to file and save.
To get your midi to play in your dream, you load dream and as your standing there type
entry music 1 with space between c and 1 then enter portal and hit the enter key as your entering the dream. You should hear the midi when you land. If not do this all again. Or re-enter.
