Another Louis Jacques ?
According to Le Consulat Général de France, in Montréal, there is a
Louis Jacques (not related (?) and who should not appear
in the family tree) who came to Québec as a
clergyman. He did not reside in the province, it would seem that he travelled
across Canada to evangelise the native Indians. He came back to Charlesbourg and
died a few weeks later. The only official records for this person are his birth
- 1662, his arrival in Québec in
1679* and of his death in 1712*.
Just a word of
caution for Louis the clergyman, the word clergyman was translated
from the French term ''Reiligieux'' which designates a
person belonging to a religious congregation. This person was not
necessarily a priest. He could have been a friar, a lay brother, monk, ...
etc.
This information received
from Robert Jacques of Quebec.
