RAOKA Rumble

I have to clarify the correction in the Daily News report about The RAOKA Awards held on December 20th. As Chief of the Arena and co-chairman of the RAOKA Committe, I arranged for the Arena to host the Awards. I introduced RAOKA co-founder AuntBee, who ran the ceremonial portion of the event.

Guest presenter was CT's very own Hawk. Rumor is he was at a party in someone else's home and took a break to use their PC and join in. And you thought you were the only one to ever do that!

RAOKA Recipients:

The first part of the event went relatively smoothly. Of course there's always the obligatory social ignoramus who will forget the point of a gathering and plunge into Interview Mode because a CT VIP is there. Had that happen when Lindsey from IVN came to a party last spring. Poor thing couldn't forget work for a few minutes and join in some fun. I have to give Hawk credit: he has the patience of a saint. It takes someone with a mindset like that for something like CT to last as long as it has and with the degree of success.

A total of nine recipients were announced - some old, new, borrowed, and one blu:

Over half of them were on hand to receive kudos from their fellow Cytonians. What was weird was that no one took their statuettes! It's true. AuntBee held them all by the end of the evening.

Once the awards were announced and Hawk returned to his R/L party - and those who came just to see whether they'd won a trophy had left - it was time for some trivia! Co-Chair Ebbors had compiled some questions and scrambles based on great people in history for the occasion, and I was granted the honors to host that portion of the event.

We had some fierce competition for awhile - relatively speaking for a mellow crowd. Skippy entertained and crawled around as an eye-popping serpent and Bassmekanik was a rifle toting turkey. GentleWoman emerged victorious with Seven in second. A tie-breaker resulted in WhimsyM winning the 3rd spot.

Following the event, the trophies and corresponding memory books were placed in the club Arena for pick up. If you are a RAOKA recipient, your award and book are set. If you would like to congratulate any of the above recipients, please visit the club and sign any books which haven't yet been claimed.
