Samuel Lane was born in probably in Hadley, MA in 1680, the oldest child of Samuel and Sarah Lane. His family moved to Suffield, CT when he was about 3 years old, and he lived the rest of his life there. He was probably a farmer, as no other occupation is listed for him.
In the Spring of 1709, he and Abigail Huxley posted the banns to be married. They were refused by a David Allen. I do not know yet who he was, why he had to power to prevent the marriage or what his grounds were.
Never the less, Samuel and Abigail were married in October of that year in Windsor, CT. A town a few miles south of Suffield.
They returned to Suffield to live out their lives. They had six children listed in the town records.
