Purple Prairie Clover
Petalostemum purpureumThe Purple Prairie Clover is a member of the Pea Family (Fabaceae) and grows on prairies and dry hills from Indiana and Western Tennessee across the Mid-West and north into Sourthern Canada.
The flowers themselves are very tiny, no more than 1/16" across, but they are clustered together to form a stock that is up to 2" long. The plant itself grows to be 1-3' tall and the flowers bloom from June to September.
It is a good source of high protien for grazing animals.
