The Aphrodite Fritillary is a common butterfly of the tall-grass prairie, but is also found in mountain pastures and barrens. It's normal range is from Canada south of the taiga south through the praire states of the United States, and into the Appalation Mountains to Northern Georgia.The Caterpillar is brown-black and lives on violets.
