When was the last time you played a game?
Oh I don't mean a game of cards with the neighbors,
or tennis with the girls or baseball with the guys.
I mean a game with your spouse, a game to make you
think or talk or laugh, a game to bring you closer
together.
There are many good commercial games on the market.
Our personal favorite is one called "An Enchanted
Evening" by Games Partnership LTD. It is a board game
where you move around the board in one or two steps at
time. At each stop you draw a card. The card might say
"If your partner called you at work in the middle of the
day, what would you want them to say?" or "Gently kiss
partner's eyes, remember they're how they see you."
Another great game that sparks conversation between
couples is the "Loving Game". As you move around the
board you have to answer questions about your thoughts
and feelings.

The most fun we had with a game, was the one we made up
for ourselves. We made a list of 30 things we wanted
the other person to do. This included a neck massage,
a back rub, a kiss. Anything you want. Then we tossed
the dice and whoever won the toss got to choose the
activity and who was the giver and the receiver.
Games are fun and inexpensive. They can be tailored to
couples only, or expanded for everyone to play. Keep
them simple. The purpose is fun, relaxation and
communication. There are no losers and winners,
just participants.
