Comments
Bond's standard-issue sidearm in Goldeneye, the Walther PPK is a small and very compact pistol, capable of being hidden almost anywhere on the body when used with the proper holster. The PPK is the compact version of the Walther PP. PPK stands for "Polizei Pistole Kurz", or "Police Pistol Short" in English. The above photo shows a stainless steel model, which is only manufactered in the United States. Although the ammunition used is rather underpowered, it allows for a slighty larger magazine capacity, although it still is not very big. Some modern compact pistols can hold almost twice the number of cartridges than the PPK, which has been in service use since the 1930's.

Comments
The pistol used by Ourumov, the Tokarev TT33 (Tulskii Tokarewa 1933). Developed in Russia in the late 1920's, it quickly became the nation's standrad military side arm in 1930. It is unusual for the fact that the magazine feed lips are actually built into the pistol itself instead of on the magazines. Those who have handled the pistol say it is rather uncomfortable. Nonetheless, Yugoslavian and Egyptian armies also adopted the pistol 20 years after the Soviets.

Comments
Oh boy, the dreaded Klobb that everyone hates... It's really a Vz 61 Skorpion (Vz means model or version). The real steel is actually not that bad of a gun. It is very quiet, lightweight, compact, and has a high rate of fire. The Klobb's accuracy in Goldeneye was exaggerated in my opinion. First shots with a real one aren't that bad, but when the recoil kicks up (during automatic fire) the accuracy is thrown off, as with any automatic weapon. The only drawback is the fact that it fires a rather weak 7,65mm pistol bullet, which is also the same size of bullet fired by the PPK! Some say that 9x19mm versions exist, but the actual number of them is not known. In case you're wondering, the "bar" on top of the weapon is actually a wire stock that folds out so it can be fired from the shoulder. The Skorpion is often found in the hands of terrorists and criminals.

Almost everyone's second-favorite automatic rifle in the game, the KF7 Soviet. The real thing is the world-famous AK-47. AK stands for Avtomat (Automatic) Kalashnikova. Designed by Mikhail Kalashinkov, the AK was accepted as Russia's first standard-issue assault rifle in 1949. The design is so revolutionary and rugged that copies (or parts) of this rifle are produced in more than 18 other countries, including China, Yugoslavia, and even the United States (semi-auto only versions in the U.S.). The AK-47's 7,62mm bullet provides good stopping power at medium ranges. However, newer versions of the AK such as the AK-74 fire a smaller 5.45mm diameter bullet, which doesn't achieve as much range, but has great stopping power because the bullet tumbles and defragmentates as it enters the enemy. There are an estimated 30 million AK-47's throughout the world. Note in the picture above the muzzle brake fitted on to the end of the barrel, which helps to reduce muzzle climb. The AK-47 is an extremely popular weapon, used by everyone from civilians to terrorists and soldiers.

One of the best SMG's in the game, the ZMG. Real thing is the IMI Mini-Uzi. There is also a larger size, the Uzi, and a smaller size, the micro-Uzi, so this one's right in the middle. This rugged firearm is used by Israel and other militaries throughout the world as a special ops and anti-terrorist weapon. The real one can be fitted with a special-fitting sound suppressor. When used with sub-sonic ammunition, it's a quiet and deadly weapon. Most Uzi's have a folding metal stock for compactness. Its unique design allows easy reloading, even in complete darkness.

It seems that everyone loves the silenced version of the D5K. With its small size and very high rate of fire, the HK MP5K is a deadly short-range weapon. The vertical knob hanging from the forearm of the weapon is a vertical hand grip that provides a comfortable and more stable grip. This part of the weapon can be removed and replaced with various other types of grips. There is another version of this firearm with a spring-loaded folding stock called an MP5-PDW (Personal Defense Weapon).

The Phantom: the SMG of choice for most Goldeneye players. In reality it's a Specter. I very large amount of cartridges can be fitted into a compact magazine because the catridges are in four columns, instead of one or two as in other magazines. Most versions of this firearm can be fitted with a silencer, as well as various vertical foregrips. This is one heck of a good short-range weapon used by counter-terrorists and special ops. There is a fold-up stock on top of the receiver.

Almost every gamer's favorite rifle in Goldeneye, the AR-33. The man responsible for the original and revolutionary design was American Eugene Stoner, who worked in a small company called Armalite. One of his first models was dubbed the "AR-10". What was so unique about his rifle was the fact that it fired such a small caliber bullet. At the time, the U.S. Military was commited to the 7.62mm round, and rejected Stoner's submition. However, some small military units in a few countries jumped on Stoner's design. The U.S. Airforce also accepted the weapon to be used by some foreign guards. Those who used it thought of it as a good rifle.
Again, Stoner submitted his rifle for testing by the U.S. but was again rejected. Stoner and his teammates designed a slightly different model, the AR-15, to accept the new .223 round. Once again, Stoner's design was submitted to the U.S. Military. Finally, they accepted the new rifle for testing. Near the same time, Colt Firearms Company bought the rights for the rifle. The rifle was soon accepted for use by the United States Military and was renamed to the M16, which used 20-round capacity magazines, was gas-operated, and was fully automatic. The rifle was dubbed to be "self-cleaning", which was very misleading. U.S. troops accepted the term, and thus, never bothered to clean their rifles. Dirt would build up and the rifle would jam. Soon, various cleaning kits were being issued, but troops still experienced jams. Then it was decided to take action and redesign the rifle to prevent such jammings.
The M16A1 came along. It was issued with a cleaning kit, and had a chrome-plated chamber to help prevent dirt build-up. The newer version also used 30-round magazines instead of the faulty 20-round mags that could only be loaded with 15-16 rounds anyway because the springs inside the magazine were too weak to feed more than 16 rounds into the chamber. The M16A1 now proved to be a successful and dependable rifle. During the mid '80's, the rifle was improved once again. The M16A2 was born. The M16A2 was made of lighter, stronger materials, had a heavier barrel, a tighter rifling twist, and adjustable rear sights. It also had a three-round burst mode in place of the full-auto mode to save ammunition. Sometimes during the Vietnam War (when the full-auto M16 and M16A1 were in use), soldiers would waste thousands of rounds of ammuntion by pulling the trigger and not letting go, sometimes spending over 20,000 rounds to inflict a single casualty. On the M16A2, the 3-round burst mode replaced the full-auto mode in hopes for better accuracy and less ammo expendature. The M16A2 is still used today by the United States military as well as other countries like Canada and Israel. Today a company called Bushmaster produces AR-15's and M16's for civilian use, mainly for competition target shooting.
The 5.56mm bullet is incapable of penetrating most hard surfaces, but does large amounts of damage to human flesh. As it enters the body, it tumbles and falls apart.

Comments
The all-time weapon of choice for 99.9% of players in this game. The Fabrique Nationale (FN) P90 is a very unique sub-machine gun in many aspects. It has a bullpup design, which means all or most of the action happens behind the trigger. The 50-round transparent magazine is placed horizontally along the top of the firearm. The cartridges face 90 degrees away from the weapon's barrel. A small disk-like "turntable" rotates the cartridge into alignment with the barrel just before it enters the chamber. The bullet is much lighter than a 9mm bullet yet is just as effective, if not more. It is used mainly by small military units such as vehicle and tank crews and sometimes in counter-terrorist actions. A special silencer is made for this weapon. The fire mode selector (to go from safe to semi, etc.) is located under the trigger. This weapon has a built-in laser-sight system. The magazine is simply dropped/slid into place along the top of the weapon. The bullets cannot penetrate most hard surfaces, but are capable of penetrating thinner body armor and vehicles. Many movies and most videogames that portray this weapon are wrong with the fact that they show the ejected casings being ejected from the side. They are simply ejected straight downwards.

Shotguns, Sniper Rifle, Couger Magnum, and others

Comments
The sniper rifle, automatic shotgun, shotgun, and Cougar Magnum are simply too plain and not detailed enough to be any sort of identifiable firearm. The Cougar Magnum looks like many types of revolvers. As for the explosives: The grenade used in the game is the "pineapple" type used long ago in many countries. The grenade launcher is based on a real one, but I am not very familiar with explosives. The rocket launcher is too plain to be recognizable, but it may be based on a real one. Again, I'm not very familiar with explosives. The laser is, of course, made-up.
Well, I guess that wraps it up for this sub-special. Thanks for reading! Coming soon: The Real Weapons in Perfect Dark.
