This isn't the biggest special, but it'll do you good to read it. This special deals with the GAMECUBE controller and how it will affect Perfect Dark Zero.

Looks odd, doesn't it? What you see above is the official GAMECUBE controller. It doesn't look exactly the same as the Nintendo 64 controller, but once you get used to it it'll have the same type of comfortable feel. According to those who have been fortunate enough to handle it already, the controller is so comfortable that a gamer can play for over an hour without receiving any "finger cramps" or other discomforts.
Here is how the button configuration is set up. Pretty much everything is the same, except for the additions of the X and Y buttons and the different placements of a few buttons. The L and R buttons are still on the shoulders of the controller. The Z trigger, oddly enough, is placed just over the R button on the right side of the controller. Many believe that a second Z triiger should be placed on the other side to balance it out. The A button is located in the upper center of the controller, with the smaller B button next to it (and lowered slightly). The start button retains the same position. The locations of the main analogue stick and the D-pad have been swapped, as with the C analogue stick and the action buttons (A, B). Instead of the C buttons being 4 seperate buttons, they are now united into an analogue stick for more versatility.
My theory of PD0 (Perfect Dark Zero)'s default controller configuration:
Analogue Stick = Move
C Stick = Look around
D-pad = up > stand up; down > crouch; left and right > straff
L and R buttons = Aim
Z trigger = Use weapon/gadget
A = Switch weapons
B = Reload weapon
Y = Open doors, activate buttons, etc.
X = Change weapon/gadget function
Start = Pause, access menu
Note that the above isn't the offical PD0 default controller configuration, but my estimation.
As you can see, the PD0 controller config. will most likely be almost identical. However, with the additions of the X and Y buttons, more options will be available. The main analogue stick is coated with a rubber-like material that will ensure hours of good gripping, even when your thumb becomes sweaty and grimy. From what I've heard, the only drawbacks are the handle prongs being too short for bigger hands and the odd placement of the Z-trigger. Since the Z-trigger will play an important part in PD0, I'm sure players will easily become used to it.
Until the GAMECUBE is realesed in North America in November of 2001, I won't be able to give you any further details of the controller, so be sure to stick around.
