Perfect Dark > Weapons
Perfect Dark has over 40 weapons, including a few from the classic RareWare masterpiece, "Goldeneye. In the early stages of Perfect Dark, you could have doubles of every weapon, and pistols could be manually set to be held sideways, normally, or upwards. However, reload animations were not in at that time. Single player levels featured some of the classic weapons in them. For example, Area 51 had the "Ar-33" and the "ZMG" in it. Once all the weapons were finished, reload animations were put in the game and replaced all of the classic weapons in the missions. The "double weapons" feature was taken out, so only pistols and small sub-machine guns could be held two at a time. Each weapon is rated for its classification. For example, the Falcon-2 is rated out of pistols, the CMP 150 is rated out of SMG's, the Dragon is rated out of assault rifles, etc. The ratings for pistols and CQW (close-quarters weapons) would be much lower if rated out of all weapons in general. All reloading times and accuracy tests were recorded by RareDark.com. Reloading times were recorded from the time the "reloading" button was pressed to the time the weapon could fire again.

Falcon 2
CLASSIFICATION: Pistol
AMMO CAPACITY: 8 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: None; w/scope 2.00X
ACTION: Double; automatic
RELOAD TIME: 1.37s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 10/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE: 10/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, Single-shot | 2nd, Pistol whip
LOUDNESS: 4/5; 2/5 (silenced)
DAMAGE ABILITY: 3/5
AMMUNTION CLASS: Pistol case/bullet, rounded bullet
FIRE RATE: Fast as trigger can be repeatedly pulled
DOUBLES?: Yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Laser sight, scope, silencer

The Falcon 2 is the basic starting weapon. You will have this weapon throughout most of the missions. In some cases it will have a silencer or scope, depending on your enviornment. The laser sight is default on all versions, but is only useful at close range or with a scope. This is generally a pretty good pistol, although the small, 8-round capacity magazine can be a problem when facing more than two enemies at once. The secondary mode is practicly useless, for pistol-whipping is only effective at very close range, is slow, and does not do much damage. You're better off using fists rather than pistol-whipping. This pistol is used as a back-up weapon by most enemies, so it can be available in almost every level that you don't start off with it. Rating: 7/10 NOTE: ratings are based on the averages of the reload speed, loudness, damage ability, ammo capacity, accuracy, accessories, fire rate, and fire modes. Ratings are not based on opinions.

Magsec 4
CLASSIFICATION: Pistol
AMMO CAPACITY: 9 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: 2.40X
ACTION: Double; automatic
RELOAD TIME: 1.80s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 7/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 6/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, single shot; 2nd, 3r burst
LOUDNESS: 5/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 4/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Pistol case/bullet, roudned bullet
FIRE RATE: 1st, fast as trigger can be repeatedly pulled
DOUBLES?: Yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Zoom

The Magsec is rarely found in missions. The only mission that it's in is Area 51, Infiltration. This is another good pistol. One myth about the Magsec is about it's so-called "poor accuracy". After numerous tests, I have found that this pistol has the exact same accuracy as the DD44 of Goldeneye. It just seems inaccurcate because the zoom capability magnifies it's hitting areas. It may seem unreal, but the Magsec is based on a real modern pistol, the Beretta M93R-AG. The design is based on the fictional design used in the movie, "Robocop" (or it could be "The Terminator", I know that it's from one of those Schwartzeneagger movies). This pistol has high man-stopping capabilities, especially when paired. The drawback is the puny 9r-capacity magazine (the real one uses 15r capacity magazines, but 20r capacity magazines are also made for this model) which gets eaten up very quickly. Rating: 7/10

Phoenix
CLASSIFICATION: Pistol (Alien)
AMMO CAPACITY: 8/orb
ZOOM: None
ACTION: N/A
RELOAD TIME: 2.60s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 7/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 5/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, single-shot; 2nd, explosive rounds
LOUDNESS: 1st, 2/5; 2nd, 3/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 1st, 3/5; 2nd, 5/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Alien, orbs
FIRE RATE: 1st, fast as trigger can be repeatedly pulled; 2nd, 2-3 shots/second
DOUBLES?: yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Explosive ammo

The Phoenix is your standard Maian alien pistol. The 1st mode is pretty much crap, but with the 2nd mode, explosive shells, you can create havoc throughout the arena or building. The explosions are only about the size of a human character's head, but are very deadly. A direct hit on any part of the body usually will bring them down. The reload is slow and noisy, which doesn't help in heated combat. In the combat simulator if you use a TV screen divider, the noise of the reload will give you away. Overall, I rate this weapon a 6/10.

Mauler
CLASSIFICATION: Pistol (Alien)
AMMO CAPACITY: 20 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: None
ACTION: Double, automatic
RELOAD TIME: 1.80s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 3/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 2/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, Single-shot; 2nd, charge-up shots
LOUDNESS: 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 3/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Bullet, alien
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: One-hit kill on 2nd mode

Another Alien pistol, this one made by the "Skedar". Good close-range pistol, but the accuracy is poor, being equivalent to that of the Klobb's from Goldeneye, although because of the sparks, it's hard to notice anyway. 1st mode is pretty good, especially when you have two of these bad boys. The 20r capacity mags last quite a while when you are using two Maulers at once. The secondary mode is the charge-up shot, which can kill someone with one hit anywhere in the body. However, the 2nd mode eats up quite a bit of ammo, two to five rounds are used up just so you can fire once, so when using the secondary you'll only get around 5 shots per magazine. Rating: 7/10

DY 357
CLASSIFICATION: Pistol, revolver
AMMO CAPACITY: 6 bullets/cylinder
ZOOM: None
ACTION: Double
RELOAD TIME: 3.19s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 10/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE: 10/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, single-shot; 2nd, pistol whip
LOUDNESS: 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 4/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Revolver magnum bullet/case, rounded, caliber .357
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Speed loader

Your classic pistol with the revolving cylinder. This is a good weapon to use when there are few enemies/opponents around. The powerful magnum bullets can break through doors, most glass, and multiple enemies. The reload is slow, but if it wasn't for the use of the speed loader (holds all six rounds in place) the reloading speed would be much slower (you'd have to place the bullets in the cylinder one at a time). Using it as a pistol whip is almost useless when not in a stealthy position. You're better off using fists if you run out of ammuntion. Rating: 6/10

DY 357 LX
CLASSIFICATION: See above
AMMO CAPACITY: See above
ZOOM: See above
ACTION: See above
RELOAD TIME: See above
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: See above
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE See above
FIRE MODES: See above
LOUDNESS: See above
DAMAGE ABILITY: 5/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: See above
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: See above
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: One-hit kills

The LX is pretty much the exact thing as the regular model, other than the fact that it's gold-plated, has a slower fire rate, and can kill someone with one hit to anywhere in the body. Rating: 7/10

CMP 150
CLASSIFICATION: Machine pistol (sub-machine gun)
AMMO CAPACITY: 32 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: None
ACTION: Gas-operated automatic
RELOAD TIME: 2.32s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 9/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 8/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, automatic fire; 2nd, target lock-on
LOUDNESS: 3/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 3/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Pistol case/bullet, rounded bullet
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES:Target lock-on

The CMP 150 is a very good machine pistol. Good magazine size, good stopping abilities, great accuracy, good fire modes, not very noisy, fast fire rate, small size, and a fast reloading time make it the ultimate sub-machine gun (SMG for short) to use. This is pretty much the ZMG of Perfect Dark. Even at a considerable distance, this weapon can be effectively used, for its target lock-on feature and good accuracy make it a breeze to neutralize an enemy. Its small size allows you to use two at once, which can make you a deadly opposition. Rating: 9/10

Cyclone
CLASSIFICATION: Sub-machine gun
AMMO CAPACITY: 50 rounds/magazine
ZOOM: None
ACTION: Gas-operated automatic
RELOAD TIME: 2.60s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 9/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 7/10 FIRE MODES: 1st, Automatic fire; 2nd, magazine discharge
LOUDNESS: 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 3/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Unknown
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: yes
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Magazine discharge

The Cyclone is an interesting and deadly weapon. A skilled user can take down a long string of enemies at once. At close range when fired one shot at a time, it is relatively accurate. However, when fired automatically, the bullets spray everywhere. For that reason it's not wise to use it when allies are in the area. This thing is an ammo eater, especially when two are used at once, so stock up on ammunition before you decide to enter a room and blast away Rambo-style. It's great feature is its secondary fire mode of magazine discharge. All you have to do is pull the trigger once and the whole magazine is emptied in a few seconds. Its drawbacks are its inaccuracy when fired at full auto, its bulkiness, it's slow reload, and its blazing orange color. The orange color means you're a walking strobe light, making you a highly visible target to enemies and in the Combat Simulator. Rating: 7/10

Callisto NTG
CLASSIFICATION: Sub-machine gun (Alien)
AMMO CAPACITY: 30 rounds/orb
ZOOM: None
ACTION: N/A
RELOAD TIME: 2.60s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 10/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 9/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, Automatic fire; 2nd, high-impact shells
LOUDNESS: 1st, 3/5; 2nd, 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 1st, 3/5; 2nd, 4/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Alien
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: no
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: High-impact shells

The Callisto NTG is an alien (Maian) SMG. The 1st fire mode is pretty much average, but the 2nd fire mode allows it to shoot through doors, most glass, and enemies with great force, and just sacrifices some speed, but is still pretty fast. Odd-looking thing, but still deadly. The light blue-green color makes you stand out more in some levels, but not as much as the Cyclone and is not a big deal. It is very accurate, especially when using high-impact shells. Good overall weapon. Rating: 8/10

RC-P120
CLASSIFICATION: Sub-machine gun
AMMO CAPACITY: 120 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: None
ACTION: Gas-operated automatic
RELOAD TIME: 2.70s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 10/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 9/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, Automatic fire; 2nd, cloak
LOUDNESS: 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 4/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Pistol case/bullet, rounded bullet
FIRE RATE: 1,100 RPM
CONFIGURATION: Bull-pup DOUBLES?: no
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Cloaking

The RC-P120 is so huge and scary-looking that you'd think it's a bull-pup rifle at first glance. However, because it uses pistol ammunition, it's classified as a sub-machine gun. Its magazine holds an astonishing 120 bullets, which can be exhausted in just seconds. Accuracy and power are very good, making it a good weapon to use when taking on multiple opponents. What's so unique about this weapon is its ability to make you invisible when using the 2nd mode. The catch to this is the fact that cloaking eats up ammunition like a cow in a hay barn. In about four seconds the entire mag is used up when using the cloaking. Use it wisely by only cloaking when enemies are nearby and uncloaking when you're out of sight. This weapon's only drawbacks are its slow reload and its bulkiness. Other than that, it's an awesome weapon. Rating: 9/10

Laptop Gun
CLASSIFICATION: Sub-machine gun
AMMO CAPACITY: 50 bullets/magazine
ZOOM: 2.00X
ACTION: Gas-operated slect-fire automatic
RELOAD TIME: 2.45s
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE: 10/10
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE 10/10
FIRE MODES: 1st, 3r burst and automatic; 2nd, sentry gun
LOUDNESS: 4/5
DAMAGE ABILITY: 4/5
AMMUNITION CLASS: Pistol case/bullet, rounded bullet
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: no
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Sentry gun

The laptop gun is a sub-machine gun concealed as a laptop computer, used for missions where firearms need to be concealed to prevent troubles. Accuracy is very good, and to add on to that, there is a X2 power zoom to help you pick off distant enemies. Power is also very good. The magazine can hold 50 bullets, which isn't too bad. The laptop gun's only drawback is the fact that it needs to fold or unfold before and after use, making it slow to take out. Don't use it when you need to pull out a weapon quickly: use a pistol if you need a quick draw. What cancels out its drawback is the fact that you can use it as a sentry gun. You can toss it into the room ahead of you and it will shoot all hostiles for you until it runs out of ammo or enemies to shoot at. You can also use it to place behind you to protect your back from any enemies you might of missed as you advance, or you can use it to guard a saved hostage, a doorway, etc. The possibilities are endless. The laptop gun is a very interesting and unique weapon. Rating: 9/10

Dragon
CLASSIFICATION: Rifle; assault
AMMO CAPACITY: 30 bullets/magazine
ZOOM:
ACTION: Gas-operated select-fire automatic
RELOAD TIME:
ACCURACY; CLOSE-RANGE:
ACCURACY; MEDIUM-RANGE
FIRE MODES:
LOUDNESS:
DAMAGE ABILITY:
AMUNITION CLASS: Rifle bullet/case, pointed bullet
FIRE RATE:
DOUBLES?: No
ACCESSORIES/FEATURES: Proximity bomb, scope

The Dragon is an assault rifle (definition of assault rifle: rifle or carbine with selective-fire options, that is, the weapon has two or more of the following fire modes: burst, automatic, and/or semi-auotmatic) which can be found in a few missions and is a pretty good overall weapon. The fire rate is fast, but not too fast. The perfect rate to take on multiple enemies at once. The scope aids in picking-off distant targets. What is unique about this weapon is its interesting secondary mode: proximity bomb. The secondary mode allows you to turn your rifle into a disguised proximity mine. Excellent for the Combat Simulator, where many weapons are scattered around. A player will think he or she has themselves a good weapon (or ammo) when they see it innocently lying on the ground, but as soon as they walk up to it they get a ball of fire in their face. The reloading rate is fast, which adds on to the Dragon's effectiveness, allowing you to nuke your multiplae enemies without worrying about getting shot while reloading. Although not very pretty-looking, its deadliness makes up for it. Rating: 9/10
