Perfect Dark
When May 22, 2000 rolled around, the ultimate sci-fi First-Person Shooter experience was born. Perfect Dark, from the makers of Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64 system, was undoubtedly hailed as one of the best games to ever come to the N64. It revolutionized multiplayer gameplay for the console system by boasting more options than any single person can count. Add on creativity and you have perhaps the funnest game around.

Although gameplay is loved, and the graphics were the best-ever for the N64, the storyline was perhaps one of the very few aspects of the game that was commonly complained about. You star as Joanna Dark in the year 2023. Jo Dark is the female James Bond of the future, sporting gadgets that would make any special agent man go gaga. Okay, well back to the setting. As mentioned before, the year is 2023. For some reason it feels like the year 3023... There are flying cars everywhere, weirdly shaped skyscrapers, and even--big-headed black-eyed grey aliens with sissy little voices! Now doesn't that just sound corny? No kidding...

The weapons are wonderful, sporting reloading animations as well as secondary functions. They were also made with very creative features. The solo missions are great near the beginning, but after the first half-dozen they just get boring, drab, dull, grey, repetative--well, you get the picture. The last few levels feel like they were slapped together at the last minute, if you know what I mean. The multiplayer is a wonder, with so many unique options that a pleyer can go for weeks on-end (literally!) without getting bored. However, some of the arena designs are too mazelike or not very suitable for fun multiplayer combat, but are still acceptable.
