Mail-Bag #3
Welcome to the third mailbag of RareDark.com. Due to certain reasons, it has been a very long time since the second mailbag, and I apologize for that.

This Mailbag Placed Online: 30 November, 2001

Rory Cresswell
Just out of curiosity, what do you think of the weapon designs in PD from a technical feasability perspective. My friend and I disagree alot, and he is a firearms nut as well (Over the phone) "Hey, do you want to know what a desert eagle sounds like? Ok - SNAP!". Particularily the SuperDragon and K7 avenger.
Deadeye Says
Personally, I noticed that many of the weapons in PD were designed with real weapons in mind, and are rather realistic in certain aspects. For example, the Falcon 2, Magsec 4, DY357, CMP150, Sniper Rifle, and AR34 were based on actual firearms. Others, like the K7, Dragon, and Superdragon, were thought-up, but had semi-realistic and believable designs. The K7 is perhaps the most believable made-up design. The Dragon is a rather bulky and heavy-looking design.

hey deadeye whens the real gaming guns of perfect dark coming out im actually quite exited?
Deadeye Says
Hopefully sometime before the end of this year.

ta v much for posting my letter, I really appreciate it. Sublime website too. PD0; we all want it to be really good so i was wondering why don't you set up a seperate requests page for the game as well as the mailbag. I know that Rare took requests from magazines and websites for PD. If any good ideas were sent to you, they could then be relayed to rare. Give the gamers what they want, direct feedback from the market will make rare develop a game we all like. Just wondering, does your mate's mate know whats happened to Too Human, since Zelda showed up and totally underwhelmed me and Raven Blade got cancelled i have less and less games to look forward to.
Deadeye Says
You're welcome. Yes, I recently set-up such a page, but is still being configured. Sorry, my source hasn't been around for a very long time for some reason.

will there be a place with wall glass, stair glass, floor glass, and ceiling glass so nothing but glass if so AWESOME!!! if not.....Sh*t!!! but the regular grid is okay with me though
Deadeye Says
It wold be very interesting to have such a level, but the framerate would be very horrid and not all the "rooms" would be able to show up at once without problems.

Jake
Why wasnt perfect dark zero at spaceworld?
Deadeye Says
Very good question. RareWare is being very careful to not create much hype for the game until a certain point. Remember what happened with Perfect Dark? They do not want the same disaster to occur, which was the fact that fans got so hyped that they expected more from the game than there actually was.

Sander
Whe have good leads that PD2 will be shown at "The Nintendo Show" on 1 september 2001 in London..... That's why we thing they canceld Spaceworld. Do you have other ideas??
Sander, gameqube.nl: the biggest Dutch Gamecube site
Deadeye Says
Please see above.

I have seen enemies shoot their gun in tight looking ways especial the one with the 2 pistols in datadyne first level that crosses his hands and fires his silencers it just looks cool I am just wondering will you be able to do that stuff on pd2?
Glockem Says
You will most likely see the same smooth moves that Jo does in PD (sideways pistols, etc.), but not complicated stuff like crossing arms in first-person mode.

Deadeye Says
I highly doubt you'll actually be able to cross arms and the like. Even though it would be a nice little goodie, you probably won't pay much attention anyway when you are busy wasting bad guys. As for enemies, however, I bet we'll see a lot of new fancy gun-handling tricks from them

Fullxjoe21
will there be a thing where you switch your views like eye view to shoulder view and shoulder view to eye view? and my other question is will the game be like you can jump from the walls and kill the enemies in slow motion like on the matrix that would be tight if you could will there?
Deadeye Says
There are rumors going around that Perfect Dark will be made with a third-person view. First-person fans, myself included, are hoping that this rumor is false. In my opinion, third-person views seem to destroy the part of a game that makes the player feel as if he or she is really the one holding the weapon. I am about 99.9% sure that you won't be able to jump off walls or anything like that.

Fullxjoe21
will the same carrington institude be featured in gameplay?will there be Jonathan and velvet dark in pd2?And since i know mr. blonde is alive will he be in the game as well? and my last question is can you be a monster like person on pd2 since there wasnt on the regular pd?
Deadeye Says
Since PD0 is a sequel, there is a good chance we'll see the return of the CI, bit it is iffy to say that it may be a special level once again. Again, Jonathan, Velvet, and Mr. Blonde being in PD0 is iffy. Depending on how the storyline is and what characters are in the game, we may see some type of alien/monster character in multiplayer this time around.

Fullxjoe21
in pd0 will you be able to send in messages with a voice like on this game i play called tribes and tribes2? can a lot of stealth be in pd0? can it not just be a battle arena?
Deadeye Says
Unless Nintendo comes out with some type of microphone for the GAMECUBE, I can say there won't be any "voice-adding" options. Yes, PD0 will heavily rely on stealth, more so than Perfect Dark.

Fullxjoe21
in pd2 if you shoot an enemy with a machine for a long time will they be like shaking and running backwards it would be tight if you could will it? and my last question is that level you described with the sniping will that take place in night time?
Deadeye Says
Yes, it would be tight to see an enemy jerk from the force of the bullets fired from a weapon with a high rate of fire, but nobody outside of the Perfect Dark Zero team has seen the enemy animations yet. I assume the sniping level that was described would be at night to add a better sense of stealth.

Fullxjoe21
will there be some levels in pd2 that are as fun as the datadyne levels?
Deadeye Says
Yes, definitely.

Fullxjoe21
I am sorry if all those question i sent is getting annoying I just like pd2 it is so exciting even more exciting than the time tribes2 was being made
Deadeye Says
Hey, don't worry about your number of questions, that's what mailbags are for.

budge
how often does your freind give you info on pd0? couse its been a while
Deadeye Says
He was sending me information every week, but unfortunately he hasn't sent me a thing for the past three months.

Colin
Hey dude, So, when do you think the soonest we will se something on PD:0 is? Is there any chance that Rare will show something at ECTS this year? It's in just a few days... On that note, does Nintendo usually show anything at ECTS?
Great site.
Deadeye Says
This is just a guess, but we will probably get some of our first official information sometime in the early spring of 2002. No. Yes, Nintendo has been known to show a few bits and bobs at ECTS every now and then, I guess. Thankyou.

Steve
I have three questions
1 Do you think PD0 will be at the Tokyo Game Show
2 Is there a gaming show at the UK
3 Did you get any movies
thank you again
Deadeye Says
1) No. 2) Yes, ECTS 3) No. You're welcome.

forget u
on pd ive beat mr.blondes revenge but it says continue or replay last level i push continue but it will not let me go to mian sos it shows ive beat it . am i doing anything wrong. !@#$%^&*()_+/*--
Deadeye Says
You have to beat the entire game on the Special Agent setting in order to play the level after Mr. Blonde's Revenge, Maian S.O.S.

elite
I've heard of a guy (Janus from GE) who kills guards to keep the framerate constant. Is that true?Could I see him?
Deadeye Says
Personally, I've never experienced it, nor have I seen any screenshots of it, so I cannot tell you for sure if "Janus Incidents" are true or not.

Mark Winterstein
I've got a question. Do you think that PD0 will be shown at the London videogame show?
Deadeye Says
Nope.

Fullxjoe21
will pd0 be on computer or gamecube? I am really hoping it would be on computer because i saw about it and how can pd2 and pd0 be coming out quickly just on gamecube I am really, REALLY wishing it would be on computer
Deadeye Says
Perfect Dark Zero will be coming out for the Nintendo GAMECUBE, and only for the Nintendo GAMECUBE.
