Avro Anson

Ansons and Dakotas flying over our garden on their way to and from RAF Hendon were a constant feature of my childhood and they never ceased to be a great source of mystery and joy to me. There are still quite a lot of Daks about, but I've not seen or heard an Anson for at least 40 years. I can still remember the distinctive sound of the Anson's two Armstrong-Whitley Cheetah engines. I'd recognise them instantly if I heard them again.
This Anson was probably built in the 30s and photographed during the War.
Below is the unmistakable silhouette.
