The art object pictured up top of this page is a few things relevant to the arts. It is an outdoor installation piece, an example of living art, and an example of deconstructionist art.
It is both a sculpture and a target. I have been an avid knife thrower for fifteen years, and since moving to Pittsburgh's North Side, the passion for a lesser known sport has grown. You can find at http://www.rosemadderknives.com/ links to video clips and stills of both knife throwing itself, and the use of the art work above as a target. Needless to say, the target will be defaced over time as it is penetrated repeatedly by the hand made orginal throwing knives. The target can be rehabillitated at any time, changed, added to.
My recreational/intellectual knife throwing target is placed safely and beautifully in an unused vacant lot. The piece fleshes out a working libertarian philosophy of art by lending itself to a plan to develop a small business selling knives and target materials to a new and thrilled emerging generation of fellow knife throwers!
